Research and Development Department Specialties Division

The Specialties Division Research & Development Department, managed by R&D director Peter van Eijndhoven, is located in Oude Pekela (NL). The main target of the department is to support the operating companies within the division in all kind of research and development issues.

The R&D department is responsible for the following services:

  • Material analyses
  • Product evaluation
  • Product development
  • Production development (machine prototyping)
  • Trouble shooting.

In our laboratory several kinds of tests can be executed under standard condition. (23°C 50%RH). Primary focus are paper based measurement analyses. If needed special measurement techniques can be developed as well.

The Specialties Division R&D Laboratory works closely together with the Development Centre of the Corrugated Division.

Machine Development Department Specialties Division

The Machine Development Department is responsible for the generations of box concepts, ideas for boxes and systems. Furthermore the prototype machines for all kind of converting challenges are developed.

The department works closely together with the machine Department at Smurfit Kappa Solid Board Herzberg as well as third parties.

All Specialties Division Development Center activities are based on either:

  • Project defined activities (95% of the total time)
  • Trouble shooting (5% of the total time)

Each project has a defined structure: meaning target to achieve, including cost structures, time-frame etc, are defined. The customer demands are the leading items in these projects.
